Caleb and the Butterfly Bandage

I got a call while at the bank today. Caleb's teacher was on the other end telling me that he got hurt during playtime by a hula hoop. He was fine, and the bleeding stopped, but he was asking to go home. I told her I would be by soon to see if he was ok. So, I got to the classroom to pick him up and he was laughing but once he saw me he was getting up to go home. It's no biggy, there was only 20 minutes left of class and they were pretty much done for the day anyhow.

We got home and Caleb indeed has a tiny cut under his eye. It's puffy and bruised and it's red across his eye and nose. He had a small frozen sponge that they gave him at school over his eye that he would NOT take off! I told him that if he took it off, I would put a butterfly bandage on it. (he doesn't need it, it's just so close to his eye that it's the only thing that will work...) He agreed... So I went upstairs to grab the bandage.

I came back and said, "ok, lemme see it!"
Caleb: "what's that?" pointing to the bandage...
Me: "It's a butterfly bandage for you eye."
Caleb: (whispers to himself) "but it doesn't have any butterfly's on it..."

In School...

I've been walking Caleb to his classroom a little more recently (usually I drop him off at Car Line) but they always have a routine that they follow when they arrive, and it changes some. On the first day of school, they had to find their name and place it in the basket. Then they had to go in and "sign in". Eventually they had to find their last names and then sign in with their last names. But recently, they have to find their home phone number! Since we don't have a home phone... Caleb has been searching for my cell phone number, which is cool. He knows the 571 part and that the next number starts with a 2. But that's as far as he knows...
Last week I picked him up in Car Line and his teacher buckled him in and said, "We heard all about dad today! It was... interesting..." Uh oh... LOL! Dad's night is next week, so Marcus will find out what he said about dad. I will have to hear it secondhand though. I wonder what he said?
A couple of weeks ago he brought this paper home from school in his folder. It shows how much he's grown just since September! My little guy is getting so big!

Snack Week

This week is Caleb's week to bring snack in for his class. His teacher tried to give each student the week of their birthday so that we could bring in a birthday treat to share with the class. Caleb shares his birthday with someone, so we got the week before his birthday, and his classmate has next week! So, today we woke up and baked some cupcakes for Caleb to take into class. He's super excited to celebrate his birthday with his classmates today!

Of course the best part is licking the beaters... Ha ha!

Caleb's First Day of Preschool!

While most kids Caleb's age started Kindergarten this year, Marcus and I enrolled him in a program called "Gift of Timers". It's for kids who just barely make the age cutoff, or just barely miss it! I didn't want to send Caleb to school and be the youngest one there. He makes the cutoff by 2 days... I think he will be much better prepared next year!

Anyways, today was the first day. We were going to walk to school, but it was raining out and I have no unbrella... Here are a few pics of my little man. He was SO ready to leave!!!

First Day of school!

While today is the first day of school for others, it's a pretty normal day here for us. We do not start school this week... We start school NEXT week! Caleb and I both! :)

Caleb will be attending a Preschool here in Ashburn. We decided to wait a year to start Kindergarten since he makes the cutoff by only 2 days. I also figured that since Alec misses the cutoff by 8 days, they will both be starting school around the same age. Anyways, Caleb's school is walking distance to our house. He's super excited about going and points out "There's my school" when we pass by. We bought him new shoes last night and I have everything packed up for his Parent/Student/Teacher conference which is tomorrow afternoon. All I need to do is pick up his epi pen from the pharmacy, which I will do today.

This morning I FINALLY got my registration worked out for a class that I am taking at NVCC. It took me forever to get signed up for this class and had at least 7-8 emails back and forth between myself and someone from the registration office. It's a Basic 35mm SLR (Single Lens Reflex) Photography class that starts next week on Friday! I'm super excited about the class and hope to learn something... This class is required in order to take the NEXT class, which is the one I think I will learn more from.

Between Caleb's school, my class, My moms group, Tball practises and games, it looks like we have a very busy fall!

We made it!

About a month ago, I filled out a preschool application for B.Bean to attend Hope Preschool, which is a really great school just 2 blocks from our house. I've heard a lot of great things about it and we went on the tour of the school. It's a great place, the staff was awesome and they have a special program that B.Bean would be in called the "Gift of Timers" which is basically kids who have made the cutoff for Kindergarten but are not starting this year. I've heard from several people that it's a hard school to get into. Basically, they choose students from a lottery instead of the first come first serve and no one (except for students returning) are guaranteed a spot. All of B.Bean's friends had applications there and while 2 of them were returning (so guaranteed a spot) one of them did not make it. :( I was bummed to hear that because that would have been nice. I did not put applications in anywhere else, so this was basically his only chance of going to a school. I went by today to give them a copy of his birth certificate and to sign some papers. I also requested to switch schedules if any space opens up for the morning classes. Right now we got picked for the afternoon classes, so hopefully something will open up. If not, it's fine! I'm just glad he got in! :)
