Getting worse or something else?
This is something I should have blogged about a week ago, but haven’t gotten around to it. I went to see a neurologist about some "episodes" that have been happening since I was 13. I know you're asking, "why didn't you go when you were 13?" Well I did... the doctor then told me I was anemic, which... I am. It's hard to really describe the episodes, but I will try. I start to get dizzy and my vision goes dark. I have learned one day after blacking out and falling over that when this happens, I should get as low to the ground as I can. It will only last 5-10 seconds and when it's over, my tongue goes numb and I get a little confused sometimes. I have to look around and see where I am and it takes a while for my vision to get back to normal. These are the same symptoms that I have been having for 13 years now. It happens once or twice a month and I've been dealing with it... telling people who watch me go to the ground for no apparent reason, that I was dizzy because of anemia. I've had 2 while I was driving.. a few while I'm out in public, but luckily, for the most part, they happen at home. I found that if I don't go to the ground and I push through it and keep walking or pretend that I'm ok... My confusion as to what is happening, is worse. A couple of weeks ago I was at home and I was on my way up the stairs. I was half way up when I started to have one. I went down and leaned on the steps with my hands. My left arm started to shake... it was like a tremor and I couldn't stop it. All I could think about was, "please don't fall down the stairs." When it passed, I couldn’t remember why I was going up, so I went down and got on my computer. It was pretty scary and after talking to Marcus and Jenn, I made the appointment to see a doctor. My doctor sent me to the neurologist and the neurologist said it was possibly seizures. Kind of scary to think about that! He told me that before the arm shaking, it only happened in the back of the brain. Now, it's moving to the front. He's not 100% sure, so he wants me to do an EEG. The earliest they could do it was 2 weeks form that date. Well, my appointment is next Wednesday. I can wait that long right? Caleb was sick on Wednesday and today, I was sick. I had 2 of these "seizures" today. The first one was normal... Normal meaning it happened the same way it always has. The second one, I was on my way to the bathroom and I could NOT wait around on the floor, because I reallly had to go! I was sick after all... Once I got on the toilet, both of my arms started to shake and I was freaking out! Both Arms? 2 in one day?? This hasn't happened before... I called for help, but my husband was not here... instead I got a response from Mr. Grouchy pants. "Nevermind!" I sat there for a while... it took longer to realize what had just happened. My appointment is next Wednesday. Please pray that all is ok and that meds can stop these "seizures."
